Description

Orthosis in the form of a shell subdivided in separated elements with a at least seat and back supposed for an individual user for fitting the trunk, pelvis area and upper part of the lower extremities. The back keeps the shoulders free. It is used for patients who cannot sit unaided, to provide stability and/or correction in sitting position. Custom made. Includes cast and cast preparation or a similar technology.

May be used in a chair, a wheelchair or connected on another support. Several adjustments can be added, like: head supports, sternal support, chin support, pads for extra spine support, abduction block, leg support, ankle/foot support, footrest, arm support, wheeling device, etc.

Can be rigid or flexible, with or without inner pad for extra support and comfort.
Different materials are used, like:
* formatted shell from foam in different stiffness or locally fluid cells in a hard structure
* rigid shells subdivided in elements from plastic, aluminium, wood or other material

Different covers are used, like:
* cloth
* neoprene
* leather and plastic
* other materials or combinations of these materials.

Intended Use Text

Supposed to support and stretch the spine and to stimulate contribution of available muscle groups in order to prevent or correct deformities or to compensate for spasm.
To provide stability in seating posture towards the pelvis area, the spine and head and to balance asymmetry.
To enable seating in order to executive activities in that posture in order to participate in society.
To be applied in case the prefabricated version does not fit due to impairments of body functions and/or structures.
