TF-prosthesis, level IMFL-3, functional finish

Description

The distal part of the trans-femoral amputation prosthesis is composed by:
Functional components:
* ankle foot device: foot with high energy delivery from the fore foot and heel and additional components like axial rotation unit or shock absorbing system
* knee joint: controlled stance phase with a moderate or high level swing phase control, e.g. polycentric knee or single axis knee with friction lock or single axis with biomechanical lock with small hydraulic or pneumatic swing phase control, or single axis knee with electronic stance phase and swing phase control or with bouncy
Construction components:
* endoskeletal components
* alignment components
* connectors
Finishing components:
* foam cover
* stocking.

The distal part of the trans-femoral prosthesis is connected to a trans-femoral interface following the biomechanical and physiological characteristics of the user.

Prosthesis has to be aligned properly according to the biomechanical principles.

The foot-ankle unit offers a high level on energy return resulting from a small force generated at toe-off.

Controlled stance phase with a moderate or high level swing phase control.
The integral prosthesis is custom made.

* trans-femoral amputation
* good general medical condition
* normal life style.

User Characteristics ICF Code

1b1801 - Impairment in experience of self
2d410 - Limitation in changing basic body position
2d415 - Limitation in maintaining a body position
2d420 - Limitation in transferring oneself
2d4501 - Limitation in walking long distances
2d460 - Limitation in moving around in different locations

Contra Indication Text

High load on outer parts of the prosthesis, e.g. during kneeling with support on knee.
Contact with water.

Intended Use Text

Supposed to be used as functional (to sit, to stand and to walk) and cosmetic replacement of the amputated part of the leg for a user who has the ability or potential to use the prosthesis for ambulating traversing most environmental barriers. Typical used for community walking and vocational or other activity that demands prosthetic utilisation beyond simple locomotion

Intended Use ICF Code
